Suitable for an easy read, "The Twisted Tree" is a blend of romance, horror and Norse Mythology. Except for a few inaccuracies, the myth part is great and diverse, overflowing with plot twists and shocking revelations. The romance is interesting, and the ending leaves you wanting for more. Moreover, the horror sequences are graphic and full of imagery, depicting everything in a colorful and vivid way.

However, the story had a few gaps (which I will not mention because of spoilers) that the aforementioned qualities will not compensate for. Also, the characters are a bit bland, only having a few dominant qualities and no complexity. The main character is mostly described through her suffering and only sometimes using what makes her happy and content, including her affection for Stig, which I feel is unjustified and simple.

The cover is great and eye-catching, being what initially convinced me to buy the book (that and the Norse mythology).

So, everything was pretty decent considering the length of the book, but a bit simple and underdeveloped.
