'When the fog rises, run for home, my child. Dead men rise with the mist.'

When Martha fell out of her Mormor's twisted tree, she lost sight in one eye, but gained the ability of a seer.
Martha wants to understand her unique ability, so sneaks back to Norway, to ask her Mormor about it, but she arrives to find she's too late; her beloved Mormor has died. Instead, she finds a strange boy in the cabin, and a lurking terror that means them harm.

I really enjoyed this atmospheric, creepy story, with the touches of Nordic myth and legend. I liked the characters of Martha & Stigg, and of course Gandolf the dog.
The Scandanavian setting is always a winner with me, and the author used it to her advantage when creating the tension.
I'm looking forward to reading the second book to see what secret Stigg is hiding, and I hope it keeps in line with the atmosphere of this book.
