Every time I look through the past books Readers First has had, I notice The Twisted Tree and wish I had been around to get it. I finally took the leap, and now here I am!

The Twisted Tree is a fun, dark, modern tale based on ancient Norwegian mythology.
Martha is a typical teenager, in that I enjoyed her tenacity and growing confidence, but was driven a little mad by her mopiness and constant emotional neediness.
I really loved Stig's character, and the Norse setting as well. The dark folklore was nicely atmospheric and an interesting change from the common fairies, demons and vampires that are so common these days.

Overall, I liked listening to the audiobook but I also think that I would have related more to the characters etc if I had been reading it myself.
I would recommend The Twisted Tree to fans of cultural mythology, and modern fairytales.
