What an interesting first impression.
I was completely fascinated by Martha’s ability. How does it work, what caused it, why do different materials react differently.
The idea for this story is very unique which is difficult to do in the world of magic. Most tropes have been used hundreds of times therefore to see a different take on one is great.
The writing is very well paced and this was a quick read. The style of writing is very atmospheric. The whole journey that Martha is on is full of challenges and when she gets to the island, they increase further.
This sneak peak left me wondering so many things: what happened to Martha’s grandmother? Who is the mysterious boy in the cabin? What caused Martha’saccident?
All very intrigued and I will be picking up a copy of this one soon!
