I really enjoyed this. The writing is great, the characters stand out, even the minor ones, and the vibe/atmosphere is bang on. The mythology woven into the story is amazing and I really enjoyed all the needlework references.
Definitely loved the darkness and the spookiness, but it didn't keep me turning the pages like there's no tomorrow. I read it quite slowly, but enjoyed it that way. I was absorbing the mystery and the evocative setting/atmosphere.
I connected with the characters, especially Martha/Marta. She was wonderfully flawed and wonderfully real.
Recommended to fans of Nordic mythology, mythology in general, good writing, evocative reads...
