I adored the setting of this one, the atmosphere was great and the idea was a solid concept, but the story just didn't flesh out to its full potential for me. Ultimately I was left wanting. This book promises chills that it doesn't quite deliver.
The book is too short to fully develop the characters, or the myths here. There is so much more history that could have been explored and the plot was a little thin. There were moments of greatness, some geniuinly spine tingling creepy imagary, but it wasn't sustained throughout. The ending felt rushed and unfinished; too much was left unanswered for me.
As a debut it's a solid start, and I expect great things from this author in the future. Watch this space - I'm sure their best work is still to come.
