I was drawn to this book because of the slightly creepy looking cover and the synopsis. Set in Norway and about norse mythology mixed in the present, it tells the story of Martha, a young girl who after an accident has the ability to read people's emotions and thoughts by touching items of their clothing.
After returning to Norway where the accident happened ,and to speak to her grandmother about her ability she finds her grandmother has recently passed away and that Stig, a runaway now resides in her grandmother's home along with Gandalf, her 'mormor's ' hound. Martha decides to due to the freezing weather that he can stay and they fall in to a routine.
When Martha goes through her grandmother's items she realizes that something terrifying has been released and is out to get anyone they can.
The characters were particularly interesting, especially Stig. I really enjoyed this book. It was suspenseful and at times frightening so it definitely kept it intriguing. The only problem was I felt it ended with loose ends, so hopefully they're Will be a follow up.
If you like a thriller with a bit of fantasy thrown in, this is perfect.
