Hopefully this first impression delivers on its expectation of being more than just another murder novel. The author's efforts to weave in significant historical detail combined with solid story-telling ability are enough to tease my curiosity and make me want to read more. The real test will be whether it becomes more than just a 'who done it?'.
Some characters appear a bit lightweight but the descriptive detail do have the effect of transporting you to the location and imagine the story unfolding.
At least worth further exploration and at best it should be a genuinely good read.
