The first chapter was slightly confusing, I wasn't sure what the story was supposed to be about and found it a little dull. There are slightly too many names mentioned and I started to lose track of all except Bee and Lou who were central characters.
The second chapter moved into the present and began to set the scene. The three new characters are introduced and the reader is given hints about a dark past history of the farm with something to do with Bee and Lou.
There was just enough teasing to make me want to carry on reading and to find out where the tale goes and what indeed happened back in the 70s.
