The Wayward Girls by Amanda Mason may seem like a haunted house story, but it is so much more than that. At its heart, The Wayward Girls is a story about family. Loo and Bee are two girls looking for acceptance in their own family and in the community as a while, having been isolated since moving to rural Iron Sike Farm. When mysterious events begin escalating at the farm, becoming increasingly focused on the girls, a paranormal society and aspiring journalist begin to investigate.

Flash-forward to the future and Loo is all grown up, having long ago left the events of the farm far behind her. But when a new team begins to investigate the incidences at Iron Sike Farm, the past catches up to her and she is forced to confront what happened all those years ago, the complicated relationship she had with her sister Bee, and face her fears by going back to where it all began.

The way the story keeps jumping from past to present, gave the book a great flow and made it so hard to put down. The relationship between Bee and Loo was so well described, and the atmosphere was built up beautifully. A really great read - I look forward to reading more from Amanda Mason in the future.
