This is Amanda Mason’s first novel. It is quite nicely written but perhaps a shade too long.
Its 1976. It’s about two sisters who are moved to live in the country and are home schooled along with their siblings, thus leading a very narrow life. Their father, an artist, goes away to find work and the mother and family are shunned by the locals accused of being gypsies.
Unexplained things start happening, knocking on the walls, small items disappearing and returning in unexpected places and small objects flying around and hitting people.
Paranormal investigations start and the events are reported in the national news.
And now it’s being reinvestigated.......
The narrative switches between the two times occasionally losing the reader. Some of the main characters don’t have enough substance to support their roles.
But the book is definitely worth reading.
