Unfortunately, I really disliked this book. I originally received this book as an eArc from Netgalley, which I tried my best to get through but DNF'd at around 50%. Then, I saw the audiobook available on my library app and decided it might not have been the fault of the book, just the format in which I consumed it but sadly I was wrong. I was very bored throughout this book, never creeped out or even slightly scared, and the ending was such a let-down.
This book is told in a dual time-line of THEN and NOW, which can be done well in books but here I really struggled. I found that I did not care for the "NOW" time perspective at all and was slightly more interested in the past. This left me a little disheartened when we moved to a NOW perspective.
With the ending, I won't spoil it here, but I feel like it was such a let down. You were hyped up from the get-go about the horror and spookiness of the story, and it just felt flat.
