This could be described as a book about many different relationships. Sisters, mothers and daughters, researchers and subjects or homes and their inhabitants.
It's hard to talk about the story without giving anything away, but it's set in two time periods. The first in an old farmhouse where the family occupying it start to experience paranormal activities. This leads to a newspaper report and scientist arriving to document the happenings. Then flash forward to the present day, a group of students want to try and recreate the experiments carried out all those years ago. To do this they require the help of the mother and youngest daughter from the original family. Along with digging up ghosts, they also discover a family in crisis.
I loved the atmosphere of this book. I did find it very spooky and tense in places. However, I found it just a little too slow in places and I really didn't like the character of the eldest daughter. Saying that, I appreciated that the story came to a proper ending, with just the right number of questions left at the end of a ghost story!
