This is the debut book by Amanda Mason and I started off well with this book, was drawn into the story straight away, only wish I could say that as I read further into the book. Loved the colourful front cover of the hardback version. It is set in dual timelines, but it is easy to tell them apart as they are headed "now" or "then". It starts off in 1976 and the front cover depicts this era well. The wallpaper shown behind the girl in plaits is very 1970s I can remember many houses having this type of pattern. Loo and Bee, sisters living in an old farmhouse along with their mother, father and their younger and older brothers. They all have very hippy sounding names which again is very 1970s, but Loo"s name is changed in the present day chapters to Lucy. The mother Cathy is suffering from vascular dementia and is in a home, but even in present day time she is seeing things, which makes you wonder are they connected to happenings at their old house, which was set in the remote area of the Yorkshire Moors not far from Whitby. A group of "ghost hunters" set up equipment in the house in both timelines and some interesting happenings occur. Maybe it could have had a few more scary moments in it and sometimes if I left the book mid chapter I had to flick back to see which time I was reading (now or then).
