A gorgeous, at times sad, big-hearted, and ultimately hopeful book. "The Weight of Him" gives readers a very unvarnished and compelling tale of a family in distress, and the man in the middle of it all who is making a brave and defiant move forward out of tragedy. I felt safe in the hands of the author, as Rohan explains what it's like for Billy to be obese, shows us each family member and friend in daily struggles and joys, and details not only the weight of Billy, but the weight of sadness and guilt, and the weight of memories of their oldest son, a heavy presence they all carry daily. The family dynamic is very believable, and the storytelling is even-handed and sure-footed. I highly recommend this beautiful novel
