The difficult second book of a series, they tend to be a little slower paced than the openers and closers, and sometimes long and drawn out while the story builds to the usually more exciting finale in the final books.

I'm not sure if this will follow in the fate of similar middle books but i am not optimistic from the opening few chapters, not a great deal has happened except for the very end where she kidnaps a guard for some unknown reason. I'm not even that interested to know why.

There is a large supporting cast in this story, but we don't get to hear much from them in the opener, hopefully there is more to come in the rest of the book and they are not sidelined to the final book. I enjoyed the opening book of this series well enough, but can't remember anything about it, so will likely have to re-read it before making a start on the second one.
