This book is a sequel to 'The Cruel Prince.' I had not read the first book so it was a little difficult to understand the plot at the beginning. However, that did not stop me from enjoying the book at all! From the very first few chapters, I was instantly drawn into the world of magic, faeries and royal kingdoms.
The protagonist is Jude, a mortal who has been sucked into this very different world, to keep her borther from becoming heir to the kingdom by tricking the Prince, Cardan, on the throne instead, bound together for a year and a half.
The relationship between Jude and Cardan was complicated, a love-hate relationship but for that, they were honestly my two favourite characters.
I also liked the writing style as it was easy to read and flowed very well. Each character was well portrayed with distinct personalities. The plot was well thought out and kept me interested throughout. I did not expect the ending!
Overall, I would definitely recommend and would love to read the next book in the series when it comes out!
