I’m so glad I carried on with this series because this book was miles better than the first. Jude was a much better protagonist, and I loved seeing her navigating everything and trying to keep control whilst showing everyone not to underestimate her. Even though I still dislike Cardan’s actions from The Cruel Prince a lot, I’m glad we got more of an insight into his thought process in this book and he was a lot more likeable in this one too. Him being able to play an active role in the story despite being under Jude’s control was very well done. Heather was an amazing addition because more mortals involved creates a great dynamic, and I like how a lot of the characters have genuine flaws and can be unavoidably unlikeable, like Viv and Taryn. The twists involving Taryn and the Ghost were great too, and definitely upped the stakes. The pacing throughout was one of the best things because it was constantly interesting, and I loved the political side of the plot a lot, it wasn’t difficult to keep up with and didn’t get repetitive. The ending was amazing, same as the last book, and I’m hoping the next one is just as good.
