I wasn’t a massive fan of the The Cruel Prince and thought I’d give The Wicked King a go since i heard it was a lot better but was unfortunately very disappointed. I feel that Carden and Judes relationship is so forced and has had no build up and literally went from one extreme to the other and is so back and forth. I enjoy books with fierce and badass women but Jude doesn’t fit that for me. She just comes across as mean and whiny with no personality traits and being able to fight doesn’t fix that. The side characters added nothing to the story and just seemed to be there to fill pages. They had no personality and were all simply as bad as each other. The writing was extremely basic and gave no real detail. I found the book to not live up to the hype and that is was in fact a failed attempt at creating a badass woman with a brilliant enemy to lover romance. It just fell short for me.
