Having loved The Cruel Prince, the wait for The Wicked King seemed like forever. When I finally got my copy, I devoured it as soon as possible - and the time flew by, and now I'm depressed again because The Queen of Nothing doesn't come until till next year (ugh).

Picking up where The Cruel Prince left off, Jude is not seneschal to the High King. The Wicked King is a much more political book than The Cruel Prince, with Jude and Cardan having to navigate manage relations with neighbouring faerie kingdoms - notably the Undersea. The stakes are much higher, too.

Jude & Cardan go through a lot of character development in TWK - especially Cardan towards the end; not only did he open up, but he also learnt to hold his own without Jude around.

Honestly, the entire book had me so stressed (also, chapter 15? Ajsjdksks). And the end - the end was incredible but also so incredibly traumatic. I've got my theories about what the ending meant, but I guess I won't know till 2020 if any of it is true.
