This is the second book in the Folk of Air Trilogy; renowned for its enemies to lovers plot. I can tell you one thing for sure, they’re definitely enemies in this book..

The writing style continues to be brilliant, as Holly Black continues to introduce us to more aspects of her fantasy world Elfhame, and to new characters who are interesting to perceive. Easy to understand, fairly decent in length, and the plot twists just get better and better.

I tend to find it hard to ease into liking books quickly, but something about the language used, as well as the thought process of the badass morally grey main character Jude, just made me not want to put the book down til i was finished. The dynamic between Jude and Cardan is wonderfully portrayed, you can practically feel the tension between their relationship through the pages as the book goes on.

Overall, a very good read, however there is something missing in my opinion, and i just cant put my finger on what.
