After what happened in the previous book, we find a Jude who has become the right hand of the evil king, Cardan, but what nobody knows is that it is she who pulls the strings and everything to protect her brother Oak. However, the reign for Cardan and Jude will not be peaceful and quiet, but betrayals and threats will not be long in coming, even from those who least expect it. Still recovered from the dispute that ended with the previous king, they must fight to maintain control of Faerie and prevent the crown from falling into the wrong hands that would destroy everything.

As in the previous book, our protagonist, Jude, I have liked again a lot and I have found an even more intelligent character and with unexpected acts than in the first volume, not only for the other characters, but also for the readers, to the ones that will surprise you on more than one occasion. Thus, if you thought that your problems were over with Cardan on the throne and his brother safe in the human world, you could not be more wrong, since betrayals in the world of fairies are never lacking and, even worse, of people he believed he could trust. Along with her, the already king Cardan is also of great importance, of whom we could already see what was hidden inside, so personally I have enjoyed it a lot in this book, especially seeing what he cares about Jude, although in Sometimes you want to put on the breastplate. In the same way, I have enjoyed his moments as king and the good harmony that both have. In addition, we have also gotten to know more about some minor characters, such as Jude's sisters, especially Taryn, and other characters from the fairy world.
I have loved going back to the great world created by Holly Black for this trilogy, in which we see one of the darkest fairy worlds I have ever seen and about which we can know many aspects. In this second book in particular, I really liked knowing more about the Undersea, in which a part of the story will take place, but, without a doubt, what I have enjoyed the most about the book have been its characters and its great plot. In this way, I have loved Jude and Cardan, both individually and their relationship and the great moments they give us together, to which we must add how much they surprise us with their strategies, which we will see especially at the end of the title, which has left me with my mouth open and endless questions that make me want to read the next book,. Without a doubt, if you have not yet given this series a chance and you like youth fantasy, you have to start it as soon as possible.
