I adored the first book - The Cruel Prince - and I had very high expectations for the sequel, The Wicked King. Holly Black's writing just sucked me in with that first instalment so it had felt like the longest wait ever for this book. I am so, so happy to report that this book did not let me down in any way, shape or form. It was just as addictive and enthralling as the first book and I cannot recommend it enough. Obviously you would need to have read The Cruel Prince before picking this one up; it will not make any sense without it. The characters really become more detailed and interesting in this book as we delve further into their lives and plans. I am now on a real fantasy book binge but it will take a lot to live up to this.
