I’ve waited a whole year to read this book and let me tell you... IT TRULY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
It’s always slightly worrying when it comes to sequels of books that you adored.
Having loved The Cruel Prince so much that it was my favourite read of 2018, I didn’t think it was possible to top it . But I couldn’t have been more wrong! The Wicked King is EVERYTHING. it had all the magic and whimsy of TCP and sooo much more. As well as the original characters from the first book, Holly Introduced a lot of new characters, all interesting in their own way, and some very crucial to the development of the story!
The twists & turns were coming thick & fast throughout the book and had me squealing at some points! I love books that can make me do that . Make me so over excited that I just have to put the book down and try and compose myself ;)
I was very happy with certain developments...which I’m not going to elaborate on because no one appreciates spoilers..! And as usual Holly Blacks writing flows beautifully and slowly and masterfully worked its way up to crucial parts...!
I’m so over the moon with this series! The cliffhanger is a big one, and I’m currently trying to figure out just how I’m going to cope FOR A WHOLE YEAR sitting here waiting for the next book ...🙈
