When I first read the cruel prince I was quite unsure on whether I should continue with the series. However, my decision to continue did not leave me disappointed at all. I did not think it could get any better.
The Wicked King most definitely improved from the first book in the series and i think is probably my favourite book in the trilogy. I loved the development of the characters. But what engaged me the most was the series of plot twists in this novel.
I enjoyed seeing the dynamics between Jude and Cardan also develop, it was interesting to see how she served as his general and guided him during his reign.
Cardan was someone I didn't particularly like in the first novel but he has slowly grown on me.
What I really love about this book is that Cardan is not portrayed as the alpha male you would usually expect to see. It was refreshing in many ways seeing that Jude was more skilful than Cardan when it came to combat.
