Similar to the Cruel Prince I loved the cast of morally grey characters and their interactions in this book, and I thought the way that it was developed in this second installment to the series really enhanced the plot.You really do go on a journey with them and so much more depth is added which raises the stakes.
In particular, I felt as though the storyline in the second half of the novel was much more engaging and I loved the subtle changes that really show how the characters have matured and changed. I also liked that we got to see more variety in the setting of this novel which kept it fresher and maintained my interest. Considering how great the worldbuilding is for this series it is such a joy to see the world expand and to explore different parts of it, you do get thoroughly sucked in.
