The Cruel Prince trilogy as a whole has to be one of my favorite series due to its beautiful writing style, gripping storyline, and heavily interesting characters.
I absolutely adored the dynamic between Cardan and Jude (the enemies to lovers trope being one of my all-time favorites) and I love how we get to see that relationship develop throughout the story. However, another thing I loved is that the romance is not the main focus of the story, and we get to see as Jude (An incredibly strong and powerful female lead) deals with her new role in the fae lands and advances into a more interesting character than before.
It's also interesting to see how the plot develops in this story after experiencing the first book and the cliff-hanger that followed!!
All in all, I'd rate this book a 5 star happily, everything about it was engaging and exciting, which is something you don't always get with the second book in a trilogy. So hats off to Holly Black!
