The plot of the Wicked King is even more fast paced than the first which makes it even easier to read. The plot and the characters from the first book flowed nicely into the second, but what is even better about the second is the deeper exploration of Jude and Carden's character. We see Jude who was initially strong become even stronger and more aware of how she could stand up for herself and become her very own person. Carden's character too was explored well without having drastic changes from the first book since he is still the irrational and somewhat ruthless character who we know and love. Carden does very questionable things that build all that tension between him and Jude, therefore their relationship is very much a slowburn enemies to lovers that lives up to the expecations of that trope. The ending will possibly leave you frustrated and shocked but that's the fun of plot twists.
