This sequel seriously doesn't disappoint. The plot is as rich and as enticing as the characters, and is even better than the first book. Jude and Cardan's relationship is so marvelously complicated that you are constantly questioning what will become of their rocky partnership.

Jude is a fierce heroine who struggles to maintain her position of power, navigating the dangers of the Fae courts, and understand the feelings warring inside her about Cardan and his intentions. Cardan is such a well developed character who earns both your sympathy and affection the more time progresses, but he always leaves the lingering question in the back of your mind about where his true intentions actually lie. They are one of the best enemies to lovers trope I've ever read. And, of course, the delicious drama with all the other characters around these two royals makes the entire story hard to stop reading.

In all honesty this entire trilogy has become one of my favorite series. Holly Black's writing is super addicting, and the world of love, betrayal, magic, and political intrigue she creates lives in my head rent free to this day. Highly recommend Folk of The Air and it's companion book, "How The King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories."
