First of all....that cliffhanger!! It is such a mean cliffhanger and I can't get over it! I really think that like 'The Cruel Prince', the strongest part of the story was the ending because so much happened.
The plot throughout was mostly interesting though there were a few moments where I lost interest a little. The world was built up more and the politics going on was interesting. But I did want more from the story.
Honestly, it felt a bit short. It about 340 pages which is probably average BUT it didn't feel like A LOT happened at first. Especially when I consider that it's set 5 months AFTER the ending of 'The Cruel Prince'. I kind of wish instead of a cliffhanger, just a bit more had happened because if I'd read like the first 50 and last 50-100 pages- I probably would have got the story. (I'm am writing this after having a while to think about the book too.) Apart from that, what let me down was the character development. Some of them just fell flat for me and the romance did too unfortunately.
Overall, while I did really like and enjoy this....I did feel like more could have been done with the characters and the plot.
