I must say, I found this book less appealing than the first one - i.e. the cruel prince - but entertaining nonetheless.
Jude is the perfect main character; ruthless, brave, ready to do whatever necessary in order to protect her loved ones and, most importantly, extremely witty.

She's by far my favourite female lead, ever. She's a very much grey character; some of her actions are questionable, but her means justify them - most of the times.

the hate-hate-mistrust relationship between Jude and Cardan is so engaging - every single scene with the two of them alone in a room had me glued to the pages.

It was hard to put the book down. The plot itself is so winding and captivating, just like the characters in it. There's no black and white in this story; everyone has second means, no one is pure and gentle.
We're presented with a bunch of evil fries, naked in their wickedness; and I believe that's one of the most realistic portraits of the Far that we've had so far in a YA fantasy novel.

Absolutely adored it!
