This was the first time that I have read a story by Holly Black, and after initially liking the front cover and blurb, the word 'faerie' made me hesitant to read the book for some reason. Having not read the first story in this sequence, I found it a little difficult to understand the characters and the story plot to begin with, however, it only took a little bit of work! The description and characterisation are fantastic and really take you into another world. A world of mystery and magic and mayhem.
The story centres around two sisters and the journey they take through the power struggles of faerie land. With all the twists and turns in the story it is hard to know sometimes what is going on, and which characters to trust, but if you hold faith, and get to the end it is worth every minute. An escape from reality! I loved it!
