Where do I start?

How about with the writing style?
First, I found it a little confusing, and it did stop me in my tracks, a couple of times, because of the rather tumultuous lingo.
It seems to be an odd ( yet stangley fitting for the book) mixture of 1800s English, modern day colloquial speech, and a distorted stab at middle-class terminology.

It was not unpleasant, but I needed a few coffees to get through some chapters.

But, that aside, let us talk about the plot:

So, it starts quickly, moving fast, but not speeding through anything- little is left without a worthy description- oh the descriptions- each is wonderfully famtastical and unique- you will LOVE the hobs, the fey and the folk!

It is a unique take on the 'enemies to lovers' trope, with some dark turns and TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE plot twists, that left me gasping.

Then, there is the romance; intoxicating enough, that the lack thereof csn be forgiven, as the few glimpses of love are so powerful, it is enough to keep you drunk on it, until the next.

At the end, was I in love with the characters?

Yes; they were so realistic ( despite being fantasy, of course) with human faults, that are deeply relatable. Each has a distinct and different set of morals and values, causing one to 'pick sides' in the most gloriousl inwardly-conflicting manners.

Holly Black did an AMAZING job of this; the world building was magically horrifying- scary yet intriguing..

Indeed, I would very strongly recommend this book. The escapism is top class, and, who doesn't love a fiesty female lead?
