When reading the first book in this series I thought that I would prefer it if I had read it a few years ago instead of now. My views on this has not changed even after reading the second in the trilogy. It felt as though this book was just a filler to get to to the final in the series. The main character, Jude, is written as this amazing person who is always three steps ahead - as she needs to be as one of two human characters in a world of fae - but (SPOILER ALERT) her character is not shown to have this trait in the last chapter as she could have easily resolved her stress. But then, I guess there would be no point in the third instalment in this series. To me, it read a bit like Shadowhunter fan fiction based on the fae in Cassandra Clare's book series. Overall, I thought it was okay, but nothing spectacular. That being said, I will read the third book just because I don't like to leave a story unfinished.
