It’s hard to find a good series that you can really sink your teeth into but Holly Black has really succeeded.

Cardan and Jude are truly opposites in every way but Holly has amazingly been able to create tension between them so thick you could cut it with a knife and despite how cruel Cardan has been I couldn’t stop myself from loving him.
We get a bit of background as to why Cardan is the way he is, and we get to see a softer side to him as well. Maybe Jude and Cardan aren’t as opposite as it first appears?

Jude has become one of my all time favourite literacy heroines. She’s a strong, unapologetic woman who also has her flaws which I personally don’t think we see enough. I find with ‘strong’ female characters they come across as quite masculine or over the top feminine. I found that with Jude I could believe her to be a real person.

I would definitely recommend anyone who loves fantasy to give this book and it’s series a try.
