Firstly, I think the books are over-hyped. I am not saying it's bad but it didn't thrill me all the way. Secondly, I have never seen a more self centered heroine. Like grow up, duh!. We all know you didn't get it sweet but your hunger for power was super annoying, it made me feel like she had low self esteem issues and couldn't sort it out properly by loving herself instead she wanted power to cover who she truly was and be proud of, at a point I started wishing that she be done with her part altogether in the plot. I felt Cardan is the better of the two and don't let me start on their love...it was just there, nothing exciting. Like I was waiting for the love/romance to kick off. Holly black couldn't even explain in details, all was centered on the heroine been not much of a heroine. And there's the case of her thinking she can play the big games 🙄😒. I'm just gonna stop here but to me it's ok
