After reading The Cruel Prince I was left a bit disappointed because unfortunately it really didn’t live up to the hype for me.
The story didn’t grip me until maybe over halfway and I’m just glad it got interesting nearer the end because I didn’t particularly like Jude or Cardan or anyone else really . . .
The Wicked King felt much the same. The first half wasn’t all that gripping but around halfway it got better, more interesting and although I still can’t say that I like either Cardan or Jude (although I’m starting to ship them hard), I don’t dislike them quite as much which is definitely progress!
Although the ending has left me rather dissatisfied because I needed more than that but I will admit, it has left me needing the third book!
