We are thrown into this medium paced without much recap, which I did not find jarring because I had only just finished the first. This is quickly becoming one of my favourite trilogy of all time.
The book was propelled forward by a mix of character and plot. With strong character development from everyone. We learn more about Jude and how she fits into the Fae society. But also many of her flaws rise up and she has to face them.
To say I had a roller coaster of emotion through out this book would be an understatement. I want from squealing with joy to anger in a few pages. Holly Black knows how to make you feel every emotion. I appreciated that we are able to build our own impression and thoughts on Cardan. With Jude unsure on how she feels, the readers are free to interpret and guess at his motives.
The main moods of the book consisted mainly of adventurous and dark.
