I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first and that one I had enjoyed a lot, this one has more fast paced action happening with all the world building and plot development set in the past there is more action unfolding as Cardan is now king of Elfhame and just being the secret leader behind the throne, between Cardans unraveling feelings for just that leave him utterly confused and drunk or if its Judes intentions of controlling the throne there is plenty of action happening in this book. Especially after tensions are rising high with the sea kingdom where Cardans ex friend nicascia and her mother rule with an iron fist. theres also the ending of this book that left me at a loss as it was a giant betrayal that no one had seen coming but was bound to happen.
