This is the fourth psychological thriller written by Michele Campbell and all read by me.
They all have a similar construction in that the first half details the background to a murder and the second half deals with the solution to the murder.
The Wife Who Knew Too Much is a fast paced and interesting story. Who doesn’t like to read about the lifestyles of the rich and famous? Beautiful mansions, private jets, luxury cars, executive suites. The reader is kept guessing until the very end about the details surrounding the death of heiress Nina Ford and who the beneficiaries are.
An entertaining read although not her best, in my opinion.
I felt there were a few problems with credibility and accuracy.
Nina Ford was an unbelievably rich woman who had a prenup agreement but had omitted to make a will - really?
The timeline between Tabby going to Windswept on 4 July to notify Connor about the pregnancy and the subsequent events seems too short for everything that happened - 3 months before she married Connor, then their honeymoon, trip to NY, trip to Dubai etc and she was still only 5 months pregnant by then.
The police telling Tabby that a body cannot be released for autopsy until it has been identified.
Readers of thrillers are always checking facts and trying to arrive at the correct solution before the author so it is important that everything stacks up properly otherwise the reader is left feeling a bit cheated.
