Nina, a rich widow, is convinced that Connor, her new young husband, is cheating on her. If she can prove that, he gets nothing under their prenup. Connor had been unhappy in their marriage and sought out Tabitha, his childhood sweetheart. They start an affair.
This is the second psychological thriller I've bought by Campbell and was really looking forward to reading it. Unfortunately it read as if someone else had written it. Campbell writes in the Author's Note at the end that she struggled to write this book, redrafted it many times, and unfortunately it shows. It's clunky, contains zero suspense or tension, and as the story is wholly told rather than shown it reads like a grocery list: and then this happened and I felt this way so I did that...

I was not impressed. I know a great deal of work goes into a novel but to follow up an astoundingly brilliant novel with one that uses a completely different formula makes little sense to me. If it works why change it?
