SJ Bennett's idea of the Queen as a detective is truly inspired. In The Windsor Knot a young, talented Russian pianist has been found dead in his bedroom after being invited to play at a 'dine and sleep' at Windsor Castle. Charles had asked the Queen to arrange the 'dine and sleep' principally for some wealthy Russians as he was hoping to impress them and secure funding for one of his projects. Mr Brodsky was invited to play to entertain the guests along with two Russian ballerinas. The news of his death is given to the Queen the next morning before her moring ride however she feels she hasn't been told everything and asks for more information on her return. She is told that the pianist was found wearing only his dressing gown and hanging by the cord in the wardrobe. It is assumed that his death is the result of a sex game gone wrong but I suspect the author has a few more surprises in store for her readers. Great escapist, amusing read. Brilliant title, play on words using the traditional Windsor knot for ties and the drawing of a tie as a noose.
