Everyone loves the Royals, this book brings the reader into their world, all be it with a comedic slant, a good starter for 10.

The first half of this extract is a bit of a trudge, slow with a touch of incredulity at the over the top Queen behaviour. But once the character development sets in, I soon warmed to the Queen and accepted her as a realistic character. The relationship with Prince Philip was especially touching, not forgetting his roguish ways, which play true.

I valued the knowledgeable side to the Queen in regards to what one might see as modern tropes, such as asphyxiation masturbation. This was dealt with well and presented a more realistic character when compared with the one posed in TV's Spitting Image. I’m highly interested in how she will turn her hand to sleuthing, this introduces a side we rarely see in monarchs.

Given a chance, any initial glibness falls away to an interesting concept married with good characterisation of the most highly regarded family in the UK. Good research and a keen sense of humour should make this a mighty fine read indeed.

This is a boon for those who wish to look beneath the veil of highly polished professional Queening and sink deeper into the Queen’s conflicts and her take on niche sexual practices. A quick read couldn’t hurt for those who believe that all grannies are innocent. The Queen is one of my favourite heads's of state and this book could be a great diversion from global pandemics.
