This first impression, and indeed the premise of the whole book, goes from the sublime to the ridiculous.

If it wasn't for the repeated mentions of the naked murder victim and auto-erotic asphyxiation I would almost have thought this was a novel aimed at young adults or children.

It's not a bad premise, indeed it could be interesting but the tone it all wrong, it reads quite light and fluffy with descriptions of royal life, whilst trying to shock by contrast with mentions of a gruesome/embarrassing death.

As such I wouldn't want anyone young to read it, but it did nothing to grab my attention either, as no part of the story seemed remotely intriguing or real. I just couldn't picture it and struggle to place who this novel would be aimed at.
