When the body of a young Russian musician is found with a rope around his neck, the morning after a dinner party at Windsor Castle, the police begin to suspect the Queen's loyal servants. However, Her Majesty has her suspicions that they are looking in the wrong direction.

For The Queen, you see, has been living an extraordinary double life and has a brilliant knack for solving crimes! Behind closed doors and with the help of her trusted secretary, Her Majesty sets about solving the mystery and catching the killer before word gets out about the ghastly crime that took place at Windsor.

As soon as I heard about The Windsor Knot, I knew I had to read it. I mean, The Queen secretly solving murder mysteries?! Have you ever heard of a such a brilliant & quirky plot? And a brilliant read it was!

Think Miss Marple crossed with The Crown and you're on the right track. Bennett has written her novel in the tone in which Her Majesty speaks, (which I loved) name drops some firm favourite celebritiy names (Sir David Attenborough and The Archbishop of Canterbury are mentioned) and includes the whole Royal Family within her story.

Somehow Bennett has pulled it off and the whole idea of The Queen solving murder mysteries comes across as believeable, making it highly entertaining and really rather comical at times!

This is the first book in the 'Her Majesty The Queen Investigates' series and I'm definitely intrigued to see what case she has lined up for The Queen to solve next!
