The Windsor Knot is a book about a murder but what makes this different to other murder mystery books is that the person investigating this is none other than The Queen herself (with the help of her private secretary).
The book is well written and very easy to read. Prince Philip pops up from time to time and he makes some funny remarks, as well as mildly insulting some people, which he is renowned for doing in real life!
The plot is not too complicated thankfully as I like to read a book for enjoyment and don't always want a story that I have to concentrate on with lots of characters and complex storyline.
The author is obviously a fan of the British Royal family so her observations on the Royal Household and staff are probably quite accurate. I love the thought of the Queen playing private detective in her spare time.
Overall this is a lovely book with just the right amount of humour and would make an ideal Christmas present for those people in your life that love a good murder mystery.
