The concept of this book was great - very Sue Townsend. There has been a murder at Windsor Castle disguised as a sex-fuelled accident. With Putin thought to be at the root of it, MI5 are on the case.

However, LIlibet, more commonly known as HM Queen is also on the case. As an amateur sleuth with the country's best resources at her beck and call she is able to solve the murder without actually leaving the castle.

There are some cute little 'glimpses' at life in the palace such as Phillip calling the queen Cabbage, but I felt in general the characters were a little shallow. I felt the author was putting in snippets that we all know about the queen (horses, corgis) but was worried about putting in any further creative flourishes or artistic license - even Phillip was more subdued than we all know him to be.

In general it was a fun read but it could have been more amusing if their characters had been more three-dimensional.
