The Windsor Knot by SJ Bennett is a charming and light-hearted mystery with a really interesting premise. It starts with a party at Windsor Castle for an eclectic bunch of invited guests, the following morning one of them, a young Russian pianist, is found dead in his room in unusual circumstances. All the guests and household staff are under suspicion and the Queen decides to do some investigating of her own with the assistance of her trusted secretary, Rozie. It seems that Her Majesty has been leading a double life as a secret sleuth for years! I found the book easy to read, the story flows well and the characters are engaging. With some great anecdotes and a few humourous touches that had me laughing out loud, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would love this to develop into a whole series of books about the Queen solving various crimes behind the scenes.
