This was a book I was highly excited to read, and I was not disappointed. The writing is brilliant, the characters are diverse, and the story brings up so many levels of emotion.
Starting with the Ford Dagenham strike by sewists wanting equal pay, the story moves through the lives, watching how time, knowledge, experience and relationships change things. The world blooms before them, and grabs us as readers at the same time.
This really is a must read of this year, and of any year to come. As a proud feminist, reading this book reminded me of the core values we still hold dear, and how lucky we are that so much work has been done already for us. Whilst this might be a work of fiction, the theme couldn't be more factual, and I am so grateful this novel exists.
