This book was really genuinely moving, the protagonist is a young girl who makes a feminist friend and calls off her engagement to focus on her career which is a refreshing standpoint but the narrative skips back and forth to her as an older woman. I read this book in one day I couldn’t put it down. It skips between the now and the start of her career which makes for a turn taking narrative. It’s good to contrast the issues she cared about in the 70s and see how society really hasn’t progressed in terms of modelling, make up and dress. The book has a sad twist with Leonie who you can’t help but connect with but it’s amazing to see her open up at the end of the book but overall is beautifully written and is definitely a modern women’s read.
